FYI: One week out and I’m on the mend (email update 2021.10.6)

Friends and family – Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou! Your words and gestures of love have helped! I am grateful.

Last week, I started to panic as I was wheeled into the OR. I was able to calm myself by repeating “I am loved. I am in good hands”. Your beautiful faces are what I feel asleep to as the “good stuff” worked it’s magic. Thank You. Surgery was boring and complication free. Pathology of the removed Fallopian tubes came back clean. Not surprised, yet relieved. Turns out my left tube was 0.7cm longer than the right. We humans are never symmetrical.

I’m a week out, and everyday is better than the one before. If you ever have laparoscopic surgery, the reports of intense shoulder pain, as the gas leaves your body, is real. Thankfully the gas pain is a thing of the past and I’m off the strong painkillers. And I need to remind myself often of the lifting restriction. I still need to nap/rest in the middle of the day.

Between Mike, my parents, and my brother, the boys and I are well cared for.

Physically I’m way out of the woods. Mentally, well, let’s just say my therapist isn’t worried. She has repeatedly told me she would be worried about my mental health if I didn’t have occasional anxiety, given the decision I have to make and accept.

Come spring, I’ll send an update when my next surgery date and scope is finalized. Until then, I hope our paths cross. Hope you are well. Hug your people.

Thanks again for your support.

Love,

Jessie
